Goldstone

Goldstone is a man made 'stone' made from glittery, coloured glass. Although it is a synthetic stone it still holds energetic properties. It is known as a stone of ambition and drive, sparking you to get into gear and pursue your dreams. It's twinkling appearance encourages us to shine and live life with passion, joy and determination. It inspires creativity and positivity and is great to use when manifesting as it promotes abundance in all forms.

History

There is an urban legend that Italian monks accidentally created Goldstone in the 1600's and some people refer to it as Monkstone or Monks Gold. Although, earlier discoveries have been made in Iran. It then became popular in China, where majority of it is manufactured from today. It is popular for shaping into cabochons, hearts, beads, spheres and pendulums.

Geology

Goldstone is a type of glittering glass made with crystallised copper in a low oxygen environment.  Molten glass is heated to a temperature hot enough to dissolve granules of copper oxide. After the copper oxide is completely dissolved it is then allowed to cool down slowly. The slow cooling allows the melted copper oxide to find one another and form into copper crystals, giving the stone its glittery appearance.
