It is found in Northern Mexico and has been a sacred stone to the tribal cultures in that region for centuries. It was worn as an amulet for courage and endurance when these ancient cultures would go to battle. It was first discovered in 1895 and then rediscovered in the 1950's and since its rediscovery it has been a popular gemstone for crystal collectors and lovers due to the intricate lacey patterns it is so well known for.
Crazy Lace Agate is a type of banded chalcedony with inclusions of iron and aluminium, forming lacey patterns and brightly coloured bands. Most Agates form in nodules in volcanic rock or ancient lavas or they fill veins of volcanic or altered rocks. It is found in Chihuahua, North Mexico and is a 6.5-7 on Mohs scale of hardness.
Crazy Lace Agate can loose its colour (especially the colour enhanced ones) if it is left in the sun for prolonged periods of time so its best to charge it via other methods such as moonlight, a piece of Selenite, smoke or water.
