History

Quartz is one of the most common minerals of the crystal kingdom. Blue Quartz, however,  has only been explored more recently so it does not hold any of the same tales or meanings throughout history as other forms of Quartz do. It is a more of a rarity, so it is popular among crystal collectors. 

Geology

Blue Quart is a macrocrystalline quartz that is blue in colour caused from the inclusion of other minerals. The colour can be caused from magnesioriebeckite or crocidolite, tourmaline or Dumortierite. It can also appear blue due to the so called Tyndall scattering effect caused by tiny inclusions. It is a rarer form of Quartz and can be found in Austria, Great Britain, Namibia, Spain, and the United States. It has a hardness of 7 on Mohs scale.
