History
Aventurine was first discovered in the 18th century. Its name is derived from the Italian phrase "a ventura" or "all'avventura," meaning, "by chance". It has been used as a lucky talisman throughout history and today is often used by gamblers to promote luck. It is sometimes referred to as Indian Jade although it is not a type of Jade.  Today it is used to make jewellery, carved figurines and decorative vases.
Geology
Green Aventurine is a form of metamorphic quartzite containing small flecks of inclusions. Green Aventurine includes green Fuschite mica. The quartz crystals comprising Aventurine are highly disorganised and may contain chromium and other impurities. The shiny mica within this stone makes this stone easily identifiable.
