Collection: Bumblebee Jasper

Bumblebee Jasper is a relatively new find. Just like a bee, Bumblebee Jasper gives you a buzz, energising you and renewing your spark and interest in life. It is a stone of happiness and optimism, increasing your self esteem and worth whilst promoting confidence.

Bumblebee Jasper is also a good stone to manifest with, promoting new opportunities and giving you the confidence to pursue your dreams. It inspires creativity and helps you express it freely, without bounds.

History

Bumblebee Jasper was discovered in 1990's near the Papandayan Volcano in Bali, Indonesia. It is the only known deposit in the world which makes it a rare gemstone. It is a popular stone for collectors because of its interesting yellow, orange and black markings.

Geology

Bumblebee Jasper is in fact not a Jasper at all but a complex calcium carbonate mineral. The yellow and orange colours are caused from an arsenic sulphide called realgar and the black bands are manganese oxides. Although it does contain a toxic component of arsenic, it is safe to handle once the stones are cut and polished. It is only found in Indonesia and has a hardness of 5 or below on Mohs scale.
