History
According to Viking and Germanic legend the magical sword of Siegfried, the dragon slayer, was inlaid with Red Jasper. Ancient Egyptians believed the stone help fertilize the blood of Mother Isis and was often carved into protective amulets.
Geology
Red Jasper is a micro-crystallized quartz. The material is opaque and its colour is formed by oxidised iron present.
