Meet Donna—the creative soul behind Ray of Sunshine Jewellery. She’s not just a jewellery maker; she’s a storyteller, a stone whisperer, and the kind of person who finds beauty in the raw, the natural, and the perfectly imperfect. Every piece she creates is deeply personal, guided by intuition and the energy of the stones she works with. If a stone isn’t “feeling the love” that day, she’ll put it aside and wait until the moment is right—because for Donna, making jewellery isn’t about rushing, it’s about connection.

She hand-cuts most of her own stones, shaping each one by feel often shying away from the traditional lapidary rules of strict templates and dimensions. When she’s not cutting them herself, she searches for stones with that little extra something—personality, uniqueness, a story waiting to be told. And once she finds it, she lets it shine.
Every piece is crafted in solid Sterling Silver with nothing going to waste, with even the smallest scraps melted down and reborn as whale tails and dollops of sunshine. Her ear wires are hand-shaped and inspired by the soft curves of Shiva shells she finds on local beaches.

The name Ray of Sunshine Jewellery carries a legacy— Donna’s Nan, Rayleen, shared the same creative spark and love of lapidary with her own extensive collection of work. Both it and her passion, passed down for Donna to continue in her own style. It’s her way of honouring her Nan, her connection to nature and her passion for creating pieces that feel as special as the people who wear them.

Her jewellery is for ocean souls, crystal lovers, and anyone who appreciates something real, raw, and one of a kind. No two pieces are ever the same—just like the stones she works with, just like the hands that shape them, and just like the people who wear them.
And while she’s spent years happily working behind the scenes, Donna is finally stepping into the light, sharing more of her process, story and beautiful creations. Follow along at @rayofsunshinejewellery for a peek behind the scenes, some stone-cutting magic, and a whole lot of heart. 💛
